What is a list poem? This poetry style collects a list of people, places, things, ideas, or even words strung together somewhere within a poem to form a list. It is not necessary for the list to rhythm, but the words used should be memorable. I find the freedom when creating a list poem fascinating. The wordplay can be wild and free similar to Indiana weather in the early spring. Therefore, in March, I plan to write a series of list poems. I will title this one Reading List.
Reading List
4 written by Stephen King
Wolves of the Calla
Song of Susannah
The Dark Tower
& Doctor Sleep
3 by Jodi Picoult to make me weep
My Sister’s Keeper
Second Glance
& Handle with Care
2 by Justin Cronin to give me a scare
The Twelve
& The City of Mirrors
3 The Cat Who novels by Lilian Jackson Braun
Julie and Julia by Julie Powell
Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly
And least I forget the book by Sandra Brown
41 Stories by O’Henry
To satisfy my short story craving
And Rise to Rebellion By jeff Shaara
Least I forget about historic affairs.
Which reminds me I have unread books on my kindle
And at least twenty more in my stash hidden under the stairs
The ones I’ve been saving
So many books
With so little time
I guess I better get busy
