In June, I plan to explore writing the Acrostic Poem. I’ve played with this form of poetry in the past. I don’t know how I came up with the idea. It must have been a word experiment for me back in the day when I was playing with poetry. The definition of an Acrostic Poem is the first letter of each line should spell out a word or phrase vertically. This word or phrase plays the role of a theme or message. Also, this message can appear in the middle or end of the poem. My first attempt at this Acrostic style of poetry in June 2021 is called Memorial Day. I didn’t make the poem rhythm, but I did spell out the theme at the front and back of the verse.
More than a barbeque with green beans and haM
Embracing the recipe for a secret saucE
More than a day off work to watch the next grand slaM
Or hang with an old friend, your amigO
Remembrance of those fallen in a long ago waR
Images of a sad goodbye and yellow taxI
Arriving to carry you away like a striking cobrA
Laying you low was a little unreal
Do I remember your heroic deeD?
And do I miss your shaving lotions aromA?
Yes, forever and always and a daY.

Don’t know about acrostic poem before. Now this is a beautiful acrostic to memorize those we love and respect.
Great double acrostic 👍
