In June, I plan to explore writing the Acrostic Poem. I’ve played with this form of poetry in the past. I don’t know how I came up with the idea. It must have been a word experiment for me back in the day when I was playing with poetry. The definition of an Acrostic Poem is the first letter of each line should spell out a word or phrase vertically. This word or phrase plays the role of a theme or message. Also, this message can appear in the middle or end of the poem. Back in the day, I didn’t know I was participating in a style of poetry. My coming across the Acrostic poem design became a clever attempt at wordplay. My Acrostic style of poetry for today is called They Have Returned .
They Have Returned
The yellow-jacket guys are here,
Having a party out in the street.
Erratic destruction and noise in my ear.
Yesterday, my household was so upbeat.
Here they come with their constant beep, beep,
And we all know road construction doesn’t come cheap.
Vacillating machinery ramble and wander to and fro.
Escape not possible because there’s nowhere to go
Returning to normal only to have them come back again
Eventually the little guy is going to claim victory and win
The noise rattles my windows and shakes my front door
Underneath it all I only want things as they were before
Radical agenda, a conspiracy I think I found
Noise pollution they create with every sound
Effortlessly, they are driving us out of our mind
Different sort of drama so destructive and unkind.
If you have read my blog in the past, you know we have been living with road construction for almost two years. They returned this morning. Another week and we are told it will be the end of it. Yeah, right.

I was awoken early in the morning to the wonderful sound of construction so I definitely felt this on a personal level lol!
It’s terrible. We have been living with it for over a year now. I think they are done now, but they always seem to come back.
Wow I can’t believe you have been dealing with the noise for that long. I really hope they finish soon and you can finally have some peace.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed. They paved the road yesterday. I think they are finished.
I love this format of acrostic poetry. Never heard of it before. This is so wonderfully charming and I’m sure it’s not easy to write it. The title was on the first letter of every line. Brilliance! Also, I’m very sorry that you can’t have peace lol. It’s terrible to have that noise going around day in and day out.
