In June, I plan to explore writing the Acrostic Poem. I’ve played with this form of poetry in the past. I don’t know how I came up with the idea. It must have been a word experiment for me back in the day when I was playing with poetry. The definition of an Acrostic Poem is the first letter of each line should spell out a word or phrase vertically. This word or phrase plays the role of a theme or message. Also, this message can appear in the middle or end of the poem. Back in the day, I didn’t know I was participating in a style of poetry. My coming across the Acrostic poem design became a clever attempt at wordplay. My Acrostic style of poetry for today is called Carpe Diem.
Carpe Diem
Capture the day,
And live it to the fullest
Rest is for the weary
Pride is for the proud
Effervescent beauty of seizing the day.
Daydream about the way things should be
Imitate the good and let the bad go free
Estimate life’s give and take
Measure your time while awake
