In June, I plan to explore writing the Acrostic Poem. I’ve played with this form of poetry in the past. I don’t know how I came up with the idea. It must have been a word experiment for me back in the day when I was playing with poetry. The definition of an Acrostic Poem is the first letter of each line should spell out a word or phrase vertically. This word or phrase plays the role of a theme or message. Also, this message can appear in the middle or end of the poem. Back in the day, I didn’t know I was participating in a style of poetry. My coming across the Acrostic poem design became a clever attempt at wordplay. My Acrostic style of poetry for today is called Let Sleeping Dogs Lie.
Let Sleeping Dogs Lie
Let sleeping dogs lie
Even if you need their bark
Tattlers can be sly
Step away from the silent situation
Leave well enough alone
Eavesdroppers await the slightest mention
Expect you to throw them a bone
Pandering to base intentions
Igniting the flame of division
Negating the peace and quiet
Gangster out to start a riot
Debate us as deadly as indecision
Observe how easy it is to disturb the peace
Garish display of confrontation
Shameless sort of sweet release
Let sleeping dogs lie
It’s the best thing to do
Else the pooch might turn and bite you.

Beautiful post.
This is both lyrical and wise. Not biting at all (maybe a little).
