In June, I plan to explore writing the Acrostic Poem. I’ve played with this form of poetry in the past. I don’t know how I came up with the idea. It must have been a word experiment for me back in the day when I was playing with poetry. The definition of an Acrostic Poem is the first letter of each line should spell out a word or phrase vertically. This word or phrase plays the role of a theme or message. Also, this message can appear in the middle or end of the poem. Back in the day, I didn’t know I was participating in a style of poetry. My coming across the Acrostic poem design became a clever attempt at wordplay. My Acrostic style of poetry for today is called Hocus Pocus .
Hocus Pocus
Hoodwinked by Hollywood illusion
Orchestrated to play tricks on our soul
Cast of characters creating delusion
Upheaval without a loophole
Special effects to increase our fear.
Politicians play golf in the afternoon
Oddball way to decide the fate of us all
Catastrophe scheduled to happen soon
Universal destruction both large and small
Shadow conspiracy-like magic appears.
