In June, I plan to explore writing the Acrostic Poem. I’ve played with this form of poetry in the past. I don’t know how I came up with the idea. It must have been a word experiment for me back in the day when I was playing with poetry. The definition of an Acrostic Poem is the first letter of each line should spell out a word or phrase vertically. This word or phrase plays the role of a theme or message. Also, this message can appear in the middle or end of the poem. Back in the day, I didn’t know I was participating in a style of poetry. My coming across the Acrostic poem design became a clever attempt at wordplay. My Acrostic style of poetry for today is called Dog Days.
Dog Days
Dandelions litter the lawn blowing in the wind.
Open the windows to allow the stagnant breeze in
Geraniums overpowering aroma come to mind.
Discussions on the front porch over a glass of sweet tea
Ages ago before air conditioning that’s how summer used to be
Yesterday was simpler than the complications of today
Somehow we let sitting on a front porch slowly slip away.

to call a form of words a poem one had to achieve what? I am genuinely interested and puzzled too… 😲
The age of life before air-conditioned is well penned in few lines of your beautiful Poem. 🥰🙏
