In June, I plan to explore writing the Acrostic Poem. I’ve played with this form of poetry in the past. I don’t know how I came up with the idea. It must have been a word experiment for me back in the day when I was playing with poetry. The definition of an Acrostic Poem is the first letter of each line should spell out a word or phrase vertically. This word or phrase plays the role of a theme or message. Also, this message can appear in the middle or end of the poem. Back in the day, I didn’t know I was participating in a style of poetry. My coming across the Acrostic poem design became a clever attempt at wordplay. My Acrostic style of poetry for today is called Quixotic.
Quixotic
Quotidian routine is not my style
Undaunted by the radical rumors of unseen danger
I’d like to go on an adventure for awhile.
Xenophobia holds no sway when you are the stranger
Obligations and responsibilities to negate.
Trudging toward mystery and romance
Immutable idiotic practicality to abate
Calculated opportunity to grasp a second chance.
