Rooster and I have acquired two adventure partners. The granddaughters come equipped with souls searching for a quest. It occurred to us many of the festivals we enjoy going to are kid-friendly. The trick is to walk away without spending a million dollars on rides and activities that often come with hefty price tags. Fishers Spark turned out to be a kid-friendly event. Most of the activities were free and easy to locate at the Nickle Plate Pavilion.
Our experience at Fishers Spark
After breakfast at a local pancake house, we loaded into our Chevy Spark and set out to find the Fishers Spark Festival. I found an advertisement for this event online. I read it had several events focused on kids, and the entire affair came with a fantastic price tag. Free! Rooster and I have to think about this sort of thing now that we are retired and living on a fixed income.

We got to the festival an hour early. The kids had a great time running through the jets of water at the outdoor play station. They got excited when the workers at the Fishers Spark started pumping air into the large plastic play apparatuses.

I’m still not up to chasing kids from one big blow-up to another. The knee is better but still sore in places from the replacement. We worked out a system where the girls came to check in with us when they moved from one bouncy house to another. Rooster and I were able to track them with our eyes, and they enjoyed themselves.
The girls got airbrushed tats and balloons before we left. Elmo rode on my lap the entire way home because the little people took a nap as we traveled.

Overall impression of Fishers Spark
A good time was had by all. We will do this festival again next year, but with a little more planning. I’m sure we missed some entertaining activities simply because we didn’t know about everything offered. Adventure is waiting for us down the road. I’ll be posting about other Indiana festivals we go to before the summer ends.
