I took up the challenge this year to make a blog post every day. At first, it sounded like an easy task, but I soon discovered it more challenging than I ever imagined. For part of the year-long adventure, I explored different styles of poetry. I decided to revisit many of these styles in November. NaNoWriMo takes up most of my time during this month. Plus, the weather turns cold, making it hard to go on an adventure unless Rooster and I decide to visit our baby chick in New York City. I need to get back to writing a fifty-thousand-word book in 30 days But First Coffee.
But First Coffee
Busy morning has me in a rush
Ugly demeanor before my first cup
Truth be told, I’m a decaffeinated monster
Frankly, coffee is my drug of choice
Ingested with gusto before I start my day
Rhapsody of reinforcement flowing through the filter
Subline dark liquid floating in my cup
Tactical tranquility to capture my tenacity
Coffee, sweat coffee, bitter to the taste
Obviously, I’m a very addicted
Frequent visitor to the pot on the counter
Furious to get my morning fix
Everything is better after my first cup
Everything glows with the possibility of greatness.

I generally start my morning with coffee, too. Very good poem. 🙂
Thank you.
You are welcome.
“Everything glows with the possibility of greatness.” So true. Caffeine can paint rosy pictures.
Yes it does. Thank you for reading.
