Christmas 2021

demonstration

Christmas 2021 around our house almost felt as if we stepped into a time-traveling machine. We took a ride back to the pre-covid world that existed in 2019.

The typical mishaps in the kitchen occurred. I forgot to add important ingredients to a casserole. This mistake meant I had to pull the dish out of a hot oven to add the syrup and pecans. The food tasted wonderful. This fortunate mistake means I may do it the same way every year. I also dropped one of the cheese-covered dishes when I placed it back in the oven so the cheese could melt.

Overall our Christmas breakfast came out wonderful. My children showed up, except for the two not living in the area. They brought their spouses and significant others. The cousins all came except for one who recently had a baby. It felt good to have them all under our roof for Christmas 2021.

The movie we selected for Christmas 2021

We picked the recent Spiderman No way Home movie this year. Everyone enjoyed themselves. The common consensus was that move was too long. We thought the last twenty minutes of the flick the most interesting part of the adventure. I don’t want to give anything away, but the three Spidermen were awesome. We posed for our annual Christmas picture before we left the theatre.

Chinese food after the Movie for Christmas 2021

It is a firm family tradition to head to a local Chinese restaurant after watching the movie. Any family member that has not been invited to someone’s house to eat turkey or ham rendezvous at The Great Wall for dinner. We always lose a few along the way due to previously agreed to engagements. Once we finish eating dinner, the Christmas Day festivities end.

The New Normal is starting to look like the old normal for Christmas 2021

We’ve all been living with Covid for two years now. The rocky road behind us paved with fear and sadness lasted longer than any of us could imagine. Like many others in the world, our family has been affected by the virus. Fortunately, we didn’t lose anyone, but almost all of us got sick. We are alive, and we decided to celebrate the season’s beauty. I hope all of you had a very Merry Christmas, and we wish you a happy and healthy New Year.

I am the author of Saving the Hen House. I didn't know when I started it would turn into a series. I love to ride motorcycles, the blues, my family, and going on adventures. This old hen rocks.

  1. I just saw the Spiderman movie a couple of days ago, great movie but you’re right that 2.5 hrs is really long. Sounds like you all had a great day.

  2. Merry Christmas, Molly! We, too, hit the theatre on Christmas eve & watched the movie (after everyone could not stop talking about it), we also had a common consensus, the movie was too long. Nonetheless, it was good to have everyone back together.

    Thank you for sharing.
