Entry 119: Word Daddy on the Road Again

I’ve never been good about keeping a journal. It all boils down to consistency. There are days when I skip making an entry. Life can crowd out the time I need to write down my thoughts about a day’s events. I’ve also been reluctant to pose as an expert on the writing process. If I knew anything of value about writing, my work would already be in print. I went out on a skinny limb of a tall in 2022 when I shared my 365 days of thankfulness. The exercise forced me to put myself out there with my soft belly exposed. Thank you for joining me on my journey in the written word. Therefore, I plan to keep a journal in 2023 to document my progress. I will call this post Entry 119: Word Daddy on the Road Again.

Note: I consider editing an important part of the writing process. Editing is where all the artistry happens.

My morning writing before I started Entry 119: Word Daddy on the Road Again

I spent the morning listening to Microsoft Word read Chapter 1. It helped me make a few changes. I found stronger verbs that enabled me to eliminate some of the cluttered word choices. The right verb becomes important to add character to your sentences. I also got rid of some stuff that didn’t need to be retold, like Will’s plan to take himself out if the curse didn’t get broken.

The poetry dried up again. Word Daddy is back on the road, traveling to parts unknown. He sticks around long enough for me to get a little ahead. Then he leaves me suffering writer’s block where the poetry is concerned. If any of you see an old biker with a surly attitude, send him back home. We are about to start a new month, and I need suggestions about poetic styles.

The book I am currently reading right now and Entry 119: Word Daddy on the Road Again

I am in the middle of Kate Atkinson’s One Good Turn, and I’m starting to think the road rage incident at the front of the story wasn’t an accident. I like how this writer is unfolding the story a little at the time. All of the characters seem to be holding something back except Jackson Brodie. He seems to be attempting to figure out the mystery.

What I’m listening to right now and Entry 119: Word Daddy on the Road Again

I decided I was in the mood for some cool jazz and selected Giant Steps by John Coltrane for my listening pleasure.

What I dreamed last night and Entry 119: Word Daddy on the Road Again

The dreams I had vanished into thin air. I don’t think the content had a meaning for me. The dream became a reflection of the show we are binge-watching. I need to stop tuning into this program before I go to bed.

The adventure Rooster and I took and Entry 119: Word Daddy on the Road Again

Rooster and I went to the gym. We also met our oldest daughter and her husband at a local restaurant for dinner.

The thing I am most thankful for at this moment.

I am thankful for the gift of time. I am still walking the earth. This gift makes all things possible.

I am the author of Saving the Hen House. I didn't know when I started it would turn into a series. I love to ride motorcycles, the blues, my family, and going on adventures. This old hen rocks.
