I’ve never been good at keeping a journal. It all boils down to consistency. There are days when I skip making an entry. Life can crowd out the time I need to write down my thoughts about a day’s events. I’ve also been reluctant to pose as an expert on the writing process. If I knew anything of value about writing, my work would already be in print. I went out on a skinny limb in 2022 when I shared my 365 days of thankfulness. The exercise forced me to put myself out there with my soft belly exposed. Thank you for joining me on my journey in the written word. Therefore, I plan to keep a journal in 2023 to document my progress. I will call this post Entry 172:A Surprise During My Morning Pages.
Note: I consider editing an important part of the writing process. Editing is where all the artistry happens.
My morning writing before I started Entry 172:A Surprise During My Morning Pages
A surprise awaited me during my morning pages editing Amazing Buchanan and the Beast. I discovered the stuff I had worked on before was better than I thought. Everything came together once I wrote the prologue for the next book I plan to rewrite and edit. I never planned to write a prologue for Prestige. Now that I have written it, I can see it is the perfect way to start the story. I needed to get that done before I could continue editing. How funny. It’s hard to hold one book in my head. Now I have to contend with two.
There is a poem rambling around in my head. I should work on that before it blocks me. Rooster and I plan to take a couple of days to ourselves soon. I am glad Word Daddy is sending some inspiration.
The book I am currently reading right now and Entry 172:A Surprise During My Morning Pages
Edward cut his visit to Barton Cottage short. He leaves after a week. He doesn’t seem happy. The Palmers come for a short visit. I left off reading Sense and Sensibility at this point today because I have a lot of writing to do before our short trip. I am enjoying the time I’m spending reading Jane Austen. It takes a moment to process what she is saying.
What I’m listening to right now and Entry 172:A Surprise During My Morning Pages
I am listening to Led Zepplin’s ‘Mothership’ disc one. This piece of music fits my nostalgic mood.
