We’ve moved into June, and I need a poetry style that starts with the letter F. I’ve decided to write Free verse Poems. Writing Free Verse Poems for an entire month frightens me because they lack meter, rhythm, and form. Sometimes a person needs these guidelines to keep them honest. What makes a poem a poem if there is no way to define it as a poem? The only way to start the party is to run my finger over the keys and see what pops up on the computer screen. I will call this poem Wandering.
First, let’s explore the characteristics of Free Verse Poetry and Wandering
- Candace and flow
- The built on the language of the poet
- Non-uniform lines and stanzas
- Experience with space
- Prosaic Qualities
- Concise Imagery
It appears free verse isn’t as rudderless as I first thought. My poetry writing challenge in June could get exciting. It’s time to read Wandering. .
Wandering Hot summer days Always remind me of school breaks In the hot, humid heat that blazed. Without air conditioning. Our only relief was the Sea Shore. The town swing pool With no sea or shore Or walk to the park to hang With the freaks A blend of a hippie and a hood I donβt know if it is worth mentioning, I must have seemed dangerous. This potential high school dropout, With enough teenage angst To launch a nuclear bomb Who knew all the wrong people, And never made it to the prom. Who listened to Led Zeppelin And knew every word of their songs, I listened, loud and proud of my lack of potential. Yes, I must have seemed dangerous to touch, When I was just dazed and confused. Wandering from pillar to post In the hot, humid heat of the summertime.
