I’ve never been good at keeping a journal. It all boils down to consistency. There are days when I skip making an entry. Life can crowd out the time I need to write down my thoughts about a day’s events. I’ve also been reluctant to pose as an expert on the writing process. If I knew anything of value about writing, my work would already be in print. I went out on a skinny limb in 2022 when I shared my 365 days of thankfulness. The exercise forced me to put myself out there with my soft belly exposed. Thank you for joining me on my journey in the written word. Therefore, I plan to keep a journal in 2023 to document my progress. I will call this post Entry 190: Marching Toward the End.
Note: I consider editing an important part of the writing process. Editing is where all the artistry happens.
My morning writing before I started Entry 190: Marching Toward the End
I reviewed the Amazing Buchanan and the Beast section I’ve been working on during my morning pages. I made a few changes, wrote in another chapter, and moved chapter 41 forward. This fix is what the book needed. A new part of their story will begin when they return from Eunice. They will flow into a rhythm before the final march toward the end happens.
I am at a standstill when it comes to my blog posts. They are important, or I wouldn’t keep doing them. These blog posts aren’t the best of my writing, but they teach me how to let go. I tend to hold onto the illusion of perfection until it shifts into redundancy.
The book I am currently reading right now and Entry 190: Marching Toward the End
I am still reading Northanger Abby. Jane Austen knows how to tell a good story. Isabella is now engaged to James Morland. She becomes dissatisfied once she learns how little they will have after the marriage. Frederick Tilney begins flirting with her. Catherine suspects her friend’s intentions have changed toward her brother, but she dismisses her suspicions.
What I’m listening to right now and Entry 190: Marching Toward the End
I put on Bad Company and listened to 10 From 6 this morning. The songs on this CD are a flash from the past.
