Entry 235: Life is Complicated Right Now

I’ve never been good at keeping a journal. It all boils down to consistency. There are days when I skip making an entry. Life can crowd out the time I need to write down my thoughts about a day’s events. I’ve also been reluctant to pose as an expert on the writing process. If I knew anything of value about writing, my work would already be in print. I went out on a skinny limb in 2022 when I shared my 365 days of thankfulness. The exercise forced me to put myself out there with my soft belly exposed. Thank you for joining me on my journey in the written word. Therefore, I plan to keep a journal in 2023 to document my progress. I will call this post Entry 235: Life is Complicated Right Now.

Note: I consider editing an important part of the writing process. Editing is where all the artistry happens.

My morning writing before I started Entry 235: Life is Complicated Right Now

I reviewed two chapters of Amazing Buchanan and the Beast this morning. The morning went qiuck and I made a few changes. I am feeling confident about what has already been written. The story is stronger now. I didn’t have time to start any Golden Shovel poems today but might get to them tomorrow. My stopping point is getting closer. Life is complicated right now, but I am determined that I will finish this round of editing by the end of the month.

NaNoWriMo should be interesting this year. The first time I tried this write-a-book-in-a-month experiment was back in 2015. To my surprise, I won. I’ve done it every year since and always manage my 50,000 words. This year I will write one of the books I will include in my Survivor Project Series. Amazing Buchanan and the Beast will be the first installment. The theme of this series centers around five women writers who survive various traumas in their lives. They join together to write their way to healing.

The book I am currently reading right now and Entry 235: Life is Complicated Right Now

I started Jo Jo Moyes’ The Giver of Stars. An English woman, Alice Wright, marries a handsome American. Her new husband and his controlling father bring her to Kentucky. She expects to be living in Lexington. Instead, she finds herself living in Baileyville. Her mother-in-law has passed away. Mr. Van Cleve and Bennett manage the mine near where they live in Kentucky. Alice isn’t adjusting well to her new life.

What I’m listening to right now and Entry 235: Life is Complicated Right Now

I am listening to Bob Marley & the Wailers’ Legend this moring. I find his music uplifting.

I am the author of Saving the Hen House. I didn't know when I started it would turn into a series. I love to ride motorcycles, the blues, my family, and going on adventures. This old hen rocks.
