Entry 252: Technical Issues

I’ve never been good at keeping a journal. It all boils down to consistency. There are days when I skip making an entry. Life can crowd out the time I need to write down my thoughts about a day’s events. I’ve also been reluctant to pose as an expert on the writing process. If I knew anything of value about writing, my work would already be in print. I went out on a skinny limb in 2022 when I shared my 365 days of thankfulness. The exercise forced me to put myself out there with my soft belly exposed. Thank you for joining me on my journey in the written word. Therefore, I plan to keep a journal in 2023 to document my progress. I will call this post Entry 252: Technical Issues.

Note: I consider editing an important part of the writing process. Editing is where all the artistry happens.

My morning writing before I started Entry 252: Technical Issues

My computer acted all glitchy during my editing time on Amazing Buchanan and the Beast. The issue seems to involve Microsoft Word. The program can act very weird at times. I did manage to make good progress through these pages. I feel good about the ending. There are a few loose ends to clear up. I also want to add a touch more suspense to the outcome. Amazing and Will return in book three of this series. They will play a minor role in the book I plan to write for NaNoWriMo.

I wrote two Golden Shovel Poems. These poems end me using Robert Frost’s poetry when I write my Golden Shovels. I plan to move on to Amy Lowell and continue writing Golden Shovels until the end of September. I may do some experimentation with William Butler Yeats. He’s one I wouldn’t want to leave out. Don’t get me started on Dylan Thomas and John Donne.

The book I am currently reading right now and Entry 252: Technical Issues

I finished the third short story in Eldora Welty’s The Golden Apples. King MacLain shows up again. I Sir Rabbit, Mattie Will encounters him in the woods while shooting her husband, Junior Holifield. Junior is shot, and a sexual encounter occurs between Mattie and King. King takes on the role of Zeus as he makes infrequent visits and spreads his seed around. Mattie remembers an innocent time when she rolled in the grass with King’s twin sons at the conclusion of the story.

What I’m listening to right now and Entry 252: Technical Issues

I listened to the Goo Goo Dolls Gutter Flowers. Before they developed a punk sound, this group started as a cover band in Buffalo, New York. They got their name from an advertisement for a Goo Goo Doll toy.

I am the author of Saving the Hen House. I didn't know when I started it would turn into a series. I love to ride motorcycles, the blues, my family, and going on adventures. This old hen rocks.
