Entry 257: Unexpected Twists and Turns

I’ve never been good at keeping a journal. It all boils down to consistency. There are days when I skip making an entry. Life can crowd out the time I need to write down my thoughts about a day’s events. I’ve also been reluctant to pose as an expert on the writing process. If I knew anything of value about writing, my work would already be in print. I went out on a skinny limb in 2022 when I shared my 365 days of thankfulness. The exercise forced me to put myself out there with my soft belly exposed. Thank you for joining me on my journey in the written word. Therefore, I plan to keep a journal in 2023 to document my progress. I will call this post Entry 257: Unexpected Twists and Turns.

Note: I consider editing an important part of the writing process. Editing is where all the artistry happens.

My morning writing before I started Entry 257: Unexpected Twists and Turns

I moved through several chapters of Amazing Buchanan and the Beast this morning and didn’t find many mistakes. There is some issues with saving the changes I’ve made. Microsoft Word is acting funny, but I think I have solved the issue. I managed to do some posting and have a sense of accomplishment. My new goal is to have all the editing in the book done by the middle of September. That will place me in a good spot for NaNoWriMo. I am familiar with the characters I will use and have the plot for this third book in the series written in my head. There will be unexpected twists and turns on this part of the journey, I can’t wait to get started.

The book I am currently reading right now and Entry 257: Unexpected Twists and Turns

I finished Music From Spain, Eudora Welty’s sixth short story featured in The Golden Apples. This story focuses on a single day in Eugine MacLain’s life. He is the second twin belonging to King MacLain. The man slaps his wife for no apparent reason and walks out the door. He goes on his way to work, but he never makes it. He spends the day with a Spanish musician he and his wife saw perform the night before. The tragic backdrop to the story is the death of his daughter. Eugine and the musician travel the streets of San Francisco in a rambling odyssey.

What I’m listening to right now and Entry 257: Unexpected Twists and Turns

I decided to put a second CD by Over the Rhine. Changes Come is a live album.

Early Autumn

I was reminded of Amy Lowell. I read her work in the past and decided to explore her poetry for a while. Therefore, this new poem will be titled Early Autumn.

I am the author of Saving the Hen House. I didn't know when I started it would turn into a series. I love to ride motorcycles, the blues, my family, and going on adventures. This old hen rocks.
