I’ve never been good at keeping a journal. It all boils down to consistency. There are days when I skip making an entry. Life can crowd out the time I need to write down my thoughts about a day’s events. I’ve also been reluctant to pose as an expert on the writing process. If I knew anything of value about writing, my work would already be in print. I went out on a skinny limb in 2022 when I shared my 365 days of thankfulness. The exercise forced me to put myself out there with my soft belly exposed. Thank you for joining me on my journey in the written word. Therefore, I plan to keep a journal in 2023 to document my progress. I will call this post Entry 260: Missed Sleep.
Note: I consider editing an important part of the writing process. Editing is where all the artistry happens.
My morning writing before I started Entry 260: Missed Sleep
I have almost moved through to the end of Amazing Buchanan and the Best this morning. The next round should be finished tomorrow. That means I will have finished my edits. I am sure mistakes hang around, but I will leave them until next time. This achievement gives me time before NaNoWriMo to clean up a few projects. I think I will play around with a few short stories. It’s time I cleaned up a few of these fiction works and combined them into a project I’ve worked on called Tecumseh Street Stories. Most of these stories have been submitted to my writer’s group. My writing tended to hover around my Henhouse Series for years. I made up this quirky fictional town called Tecumseh, Indiana. If you look on the map, you won’t find it.
I am very tired today. The noise from the street that runs in front of the house woke me up, and I couldn’t fall back asleep. I did manage to write several Golden Shovels. That means I need to do some posting. Sometimes, I write better when there is an edge. Deadlines and sleepless nights can be motivators.
The book I am currently reading, Entry 260: Missed Sleep
I’m taking a reading break today because of a lack of sleep. Eldora Welty can wait until tomorrow.
What I’m listening to right now and Entry 260: Missed Sleep
I put on Miranda Stones One Two Trash a Few. It is a live album. I hope the songs keep me awake.

Early Autumn
I was reminded of Amy Lowell. I read her work in the past and decided to explore her poetry for a while. Therefore, this new poem will be titled Early Autumn.
Entry 276: A Return to the Short Story
Therefore, I plan to keep a journal in 2023 to document my progress. I will call this post Entry 276: A Return to the Short Story.
Hope all goes well with you. Anita
Multiply your tired by every damn night ~ sometimes all night ~ for two years, and you’re me.
